Progression – The concepts have been repeated in many of the arrangements, allowing the students to progress at a slower pace with lots of reinforcement of the concepts being covered in as many different contexts as possible.
Age appropriate – Although the instrumental skills required to play the parts are basic, the pieces with the CD backing tracks give the arrangements a contemporary feel and give cues to the instrumentalist.
Concept sheets – Explanations are given of the concepts and their use within the arrangements. Students can refer to these when completing their personal logs (see below).
Compositional ideas – Basic ideas are given to help build confidence in handling the ‘building bricks’ of music. Group Music Activities in the classroom.
Personal logs – Printable listening logs are included for students to record the concepts they are working on. The personal logs have plenty of space for the students to write in.
