Higher Music Book and Online Exam used in more than 120 Schools in Scotland
Every year students are sitting their SQA Higher Music Listening exam. With a lack of real resources to meet the needs of students, Softplanet have created a unique resource for both students and teachers to sit a mock audio exam similar to the real exam.
The success of Higher Music Practice Papers and it’s unique online audio resource allows students to sit a complete exam almost identical to the Higher Music exam on the day. The book, normally priced at £16.95, contains 5 practice papers. This is also reflected online when students register themselves and login to the exam pages online – details of the online resource are printed in the book. Students login and select each Paper from the menu. They then work through all the audio questions and write the answers in the book. A full set of answers is available at the end of each section.
Scottish Music Departments Have Adopted Higher Music Practice Papers
We are delighted to see more than 120 schools using the resource and achieving a better result through the Higher Music exams. Teachers can purchase a school license and use the resource in class. Students can also buy the student edition and use in their own time at home.
Purchase of the book by students includes free access to the higher music online resource for 12 months.

Sibelius Software – The progression towards a yearly subscription
In the last 10 years we’ve seen Sibelius’ software progress in terms of features, quality of sampled sounds and technical advancement on the simplicity and ease of creating professional scores. Even with the inclusion of Tablets and multi-language functionality.
Many original Sibelius owners disliked the take-over of Sibelius from UK owners – Benn and Jonathan Finn by Avid. They saw this is a loss of personal control where their voices were heard and the request for features and subtle changes to the working environment would build better versions on a monthly basis.
We have also seen a pricing model change for software, especially over the last 5 years where price has been spread over a year, without an initial layout of wads of cash. Sibelius has also gone this way and the licensing of music software has been met with good and bad feeling. Gone are the days of ‘owning’ software, we rent it now.
Sibelius Ultimate Pricing
Sibelius Ultimate Perpetual License – This is a license that allows you to use the software forever, this also includes an unlimited number of staves and extra features. However, in order to receive updates of new features, bug fixes and up-to-date versions you will need to buy a yearly upgrade – Annual AVID upgrade plan.
Sibelius – The original but without the Ultimate features. Sibelius Educational and Professional are the same but educational / Academic offers discounts for students.

We’ve had a lot of enquiries why we don’t allow customer reviews of products.
Here’s an interesting article about reviews and why websites are conning their customers. They simply can’t be trusted!
