Question:
The audio file is very small to view. Can I enlarge it? I need to rip
only part of the track e.g. bars 10-20. How do I do that and save as a
separate wave file. (The pupils need to do this as part of the Adv Higher
Listening Commentary - they require audio extracts from a CD. Perhaps only
3-4 bars of audio so that the examiner can follow the sheet music whilst
listening to the audio extract).
Answer:
- At the bottom right of the screen are 2 sliders - 1 horizontal and 1 vertical
- By pulling the vertical slider down you will stretch all of the tracks in the arrangement window. The audio file may stretch off
the screen so you may have to scroll up or down with the scroll bar (above the vertical slider).
- If you wish to cut the audio file into sections - right-click with your mouse and select the split tool (scissors)
- Cut where you want the audio WAV file to start and then cut where you want it to end.
- Right-click again and select the erase tool
Click on the audio parts you wish to erase, to leave the audio section you want to keep.
- Almost there - Take your mouse and hover it over the ruler area near the top of the screen and near the top of the ruler area, until your mouse changes to a pencil.
- Holding the left-mouse button down, drag from left to right. From the start of the audio file to the end of it. What we are doing is telling Cubase exactly what we want
to use in our recording.
- Go to the File menu and select Export then Audio Mixdown
- Give your file a name and save into a folder. See the settings below for a typical CD quality stereo recording.
