The pieces are concept-based and have a wide variety of
parts for classroom instruments. They include a range
of styles and incorporate musical concepts at levels A-E
/ Access 3

Support for Learning
- Easy to read parts
- All the parts are available with note names. Many
of the rhythms can be learned by note, enabling the
less able student or beginner to make an enjoyable and
interesting contribution.
- Progression
- The concepts have been repeated in many of the arrangements,
allowing the students to progress at a slower pace with
lots of reinforcement of the concepts being covered
in as many different contexts as possible.
- Age appropriate
- Although the instrumental skills required to play
the parts are basic, the pieces with the CD backing
tracks give the arrangements a contemporary feel and
give cues to the instrumentalist.
- Concept sheets
- Explanations are given of the concepts and their use
within the arrangements. Students can refer to these
when completing their personal logs (see below).
- Compositional ideas
- Basic ideas are given to help build confidence in
handling the 'building bricks' of music.
- Personal logs
- Printable listening logs are included for students
to record the concepts they are working on. The personal
logs have plenty of space for the students to write
in.
